PASIGHAT, Oct 18: In the wake of surfacing of several cases of duplicate and diluted items of eatables and cosmetics in Pasighat market, the shop of one wholesaler and their outlets along with some other cosmetic outlets have been singled out who have been allegedly selling these fake items.
Pasighat Vegetable Market President, Rinzing Taloh and another customer Kaye found that these traders were doing business in the most foul manner to earn more profits while compromising with the health of the consumers. The duo came across the diluted and duplicate items allegedly sold from the shop with a video footage showing a purchased Moong Dal getting discoloured on mixing with water. The shop owner has categorically denied the allegation.
Along with this, one of the most popular shop of Pasighat market is also being alleged of selling questionable items of packaged water bottles in the past, the complainant said. “When we had questioned the shop owner about sale of such diluted items some days ago, they confessed but also displayed ‘do whatever you can’ attitude, ” added Taloh and Kaye.
Taking serious cognizance of such illegal sale, Department of Food Safety from the District Medical Office sent a staff to collect the sample for quality check. But the concerned staff was also alleged of helping the shopkeepers throw away adulterated product.
“We have understood their nexus as the actual samples handed for the test were replaced with the fresh ones. But we warn them not to repeat such mischief which compromise with the health and lives of the general public,” the duo added.
Meanwhile, similar cases of duplicate cosmetic items were also found. The duplicate cosmetics are said to be supplied from Bangladesh or Myanmar via middlemen from Silapathar, Assam.
