ITANAGAR, Nov 15: The Anti Drug Squad (ADS) of Changlang police nabbed two drug peddlers and seized contraband substance from their possession on November 13 on being alerted of a consignment from Assam.
Led by Inspector C A Namchoom, OC PS Changlang, his team laid a trap at Namdang in which the drug peddler identified as Pintu Debnath, 36, was nabbed with approximately 25gm suspected contraband drug, cash and one mobile phone from his possession.
On spot interrogation, he admitted to being an agent while revealing the main drug supplier as one Dipak Mandal alias Babu based in Assam and also volunteered to help in nabbing him.
The ADS team further laid a trap and the apprehendee was made to call his associates based in Assam from his mobile and asked to come with drugs to Namdang on the Arunachal side. Accordingly, Mandal (40) arrived at the spot where he was captured by the ADS team and recovered approximately 21 gm suspected contraband drug, Rs 24,450, sales proceed of drug and a mobile phone.
The entire process of seizures were made in presence of Executive Magistrate Goju Sikom, circle officer.
Accordingly, a case has been registered at Changlang PS under NDPS act against the duo for illegal trafficking of contraband drug.
