PASIGHAT, May 3: Major General Bhaskar Kalita, YSM, Additional Director General, NCC Directorate, North Eastern Region Shillong, visited 22 Arunachal Pradesh Battalion NCC Pasighat on Monday, which is the first and oldest NCC unit (Estd. 1964, JNC) of Arunachal Pradesh, providing NCC cover in over 52% of state area, geographically.
Guard of Honour was presented to the General officer by the NCC cadets of JNC and DGC Pasighat. This was followed by introduction with the Officers, JCOs, Instructors and Civil staff of the unit. Subsequently, Commanding Officer gave unit brief to the ADG, wherein critical issues were discussed for speedy resolution with the involvement of State administration wherever required.
General Kalita appreciated the efforts put in by 22 AP Battalion NCC in imparting NCC training to over 3000 NCC cadets studying in 40 schools & colleges spread from Mechuka, Monigong, Tirbin to Anini in 10 border districts of Arunachal Pradesh. The ADG commended the special efforts put in by the unit in starting NCC for the first time in far-flung and remote areas of Arunachal Pradesh under Border Areas Expansion Plan of NCC.
During his visit, the General officer also interacted with all the cadets present and conveyed his best wishes to them. He also exhorted that the youth of our nation are the strong pillars on whose shoulders, rest the future of the nation and we must be integrated and disciplined, both at the society and individual level to be effective and efficient.
