ITANAGAR, Apr 25:  Social activist Sol Dodum has resolved to continue his protest in the form of ‘hunger strike’ from Tuesday , after state government failed to address his charter of demands in the second round table meeting with the Home Minister that was held on Monday.
Dodum, after meeting  with Home Minister Bamang Felix, said that there was no positive outcome of the meeting. He said the government is reluctant to constitute SIT/SIC  to investigate various departmental corruptions under the EE (PHED), Seppa division.
Speaking to the reporters, Dodum claimed that the EE had made illegal appointments to his kith and kin in the department and corruption in the water treatment plant, Seppa.
He said the EE should be temporarily suspended from his post and thereafter the investigation against him should be initiated. Surprisingly, the government did not order suspension as well as constituted SIT to investigate the case.
“Once the investigation is initiated, the public will know how much corruption and illegal appointments have been made in the department by the EE. Therefore, I stick to my demand that thorough investigation should be done on my claims, which is authentic,” he said.
Responding to the assurance by the East Kameng district administration on supply of potable water in Seppa town within a few months, Dodum claimed that there is huge corruption involved in the construction of Lai Moya water treatment plant, which needs to be investigated.
Dodum said that the district level monitoring team constituted under deputy commissioner itself is eyewash to the public. He also said that sufficient substantiating documents have been submitted to the state government on the corruption in the PHE department.
Meanwhile, Felix appealing to Dodum to call off his ongoing protest said that the prime demand for potable water is already being addressed by the High Level team led by Minister Mama Natung. Even the police are investigating the attack case and also arrested the culprits.
On the demand of constituting SIT to investigate corruption in the PHE & WS department and against the EE, Felix said that Dodum should approach the department with relevant substantiating documents and following due procedure.
“One should also know that the transfer of any DC is a normal procedure. If someone completes his tenure, the government will naturally post someone else. Likewise, posting of permanent EE in any district is the call of the concerned department,” he said.
Earlier today, the East Kameng District Deputy Commissioner PA Polumatla while responding to the demands of the public for potable water supply in the district has finally directed the department of PHE & WS to connect Kuchi Nallah intake point to the reservoir by May 22 next.
Likewise, it was also directed for the repair and maintenance of the defunct Rapid Sand Filtration (RSF) plant at Machabung within three months and augmentation of water supply to Seppa Township within 6 months from today.
Failure to adhere to the committed timelines and non-compliance, DC in an order issued today stated that disciplinary action against EE (PHED) Seppa division will be initiated. It also directed the EE to carry out laying of pipes for connecting the intake point of Kuchi Nallah with the reservoir as per the provision of Arunachal Pradesh Water Supply Act 2015.
