Khonsa, Jul 23: One NSCN-K cadre named Wangpia Nokbi who has been functioning under the UT-III Region, Unit of C.H.Q of the Naga Army on Thursday surrendered before the District Magistrate-cum-DC of Tirap Bhanu Prabha in presence of Judicial Magistrate Hakresha Kri and others.
In his surrender statement the NSCN-K cadre admitted that he joined the outlawed outfit in 2010 and worked for more than two years in the jungles of Myanmar and attributed the cause of his association to poverty as both his mother and father died when he was a child. After serving the NSCN-K Naga Army under UT-III region he realised that it was not possible for him to continue in the jungle environment without proper food and sleep. Later, in 2013 he was discharged by the Authority Commander, Council Headquarters, Naga Army on health grounds.
While issuing the surrender certificate to the ex-insurgent, DC assured to extend all-possible help from the District Administration through the available livelihood schemes of the Agriculture and allied departments so that he can lead a normal mainstream life with his wife and three children. DC further appealed all the misguided youths of Tirap district to return back to the mainstream in the company of their families and parents.
