Changlang, Oct 7: In yet another success in the ongoing counter-insurgency efforts in Changlang district, an active NSCN-IM cadre has surrendered before the district police at Namtok Police Station on October 5 last.
The 30-year-old surrendered cadre, a resident of Phangsung village was the SS Sergeant of the militant outfit. During enquiry it was revealed that the individual was radicalized by the NSCN-IM in 2015 with promises of job and salary and since then had remained active as a cadre. After making the surrender, the cadre disclosed that taking to militancy was his mistake and he was misguided by the antisocial elements who made his life miserable, also causing deterioration of his health due to a prolonged jungle life. Realising the mistake, he took the decision to return to his village and join the mainstream for a normal life.
After completion of necessary formalities, he has been set free with a ‘Surrendering Certificate’ issued by the Deputy Commissioner Changlang. SP Changlang Mihin Gambo has appealed to all the misguided youths who have taken to militancy to return to the mainstream and live life with dignity and value. Changlang SP
