Assam-Arunachal border delineation exercise concludes in Lower Siang
ITANAGAR, Apr 23: Expressing concern over the recent media statement of the BJP National President, Amit Shah to bring back the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, if the party is voted to power, the Arunachal Civil Society (ACS) today strongly condemned the statement terming it unacceptable and against the sentiments of the entire Northeast people.
Slamming Shah’s remarks, it alleged that the CAB which BJP is desperately trying to bring in justifying it as a weapon to weed out illegal migrants from Assam, will in turn result in flooding of illegal Bangladeshis. It observed that passing of the bill will negatively affect the demography, culture and identity of the entire Northeast, especially Arunachal.
Categorically terming the statement as an insult to the sentiments of the entire Northeast people, it asked all political parties, leaders, student union and intellectuals to stand united against such evil designs of BJP which intends to destroy the whole region.
“The ACS has stood strongly against CAB from the very beginning and will leave no stone unturned to make sure it does not get passed in near future,” affirmed its Chairman, Patey Tayum.
Further clarifying that the ACS is not against any political party but CAB, Tayum warned that any attempt to dilute the indigenous population will invite stiff resistance.
