KHARSANG, Mar 31: Superintendent of Police, Changlang , Mihin Gambo informed that the accused involved in the murder of a 25-year- old girl has been identified and arrested.
'As soon as we got the missing information on 7th March last, we activated all the surveillance and sent WT messages to the entire district including Assam. Her phone number was also put on CDR surveillance and through that, on March 27 last we got the information that a person from Dibrugarh is using her mobile phone with a different SIM Card," he said.
The police team swung into action and detained the person, on his disclosure police arrested two people who sold the mobile phone to him. The alleged accused are basically from Dibrugarh, Assam and engaged as migrant workers in Kharsang. Initially, they were arrested on kidnapping charges but on March 30 last, after the body was recovered in the isolated location, it was established that the girl has been murdered, added the SP.
District Police expressed deep condolence to the family and will try our best to refer the case to Fast Track Court, SP said.
Earlier, All Tangsa Student Union, All Changlang District Students Union, and All Tutsa Students Union jointly condemned the incident and demanded Fast Track Court for trial and capital punishment for the culprits for executing such a heinous crime.
