ITANAGAR, Aug 9: The Arunachal Chamber of Commerce and Industries (ACCI), the apex traders’ body of the state has called off its 72-hour shutter down strike proposed on August 10 following government assurance to look into their demands.
In a press conference held on Sunday, ACC&I, secretary-general, Toko Tatung disclosed that the decision to call off the strike came after the Chief secretary in an official communique assured to look into the demands.
" The CS has invited us on Tuesday to have a broader discussion on the matter raised by us, " he disclosed while appreciating the contributions of all business community towards boosting  the state's economy and  serving society during the COVID -19 situation.
Earlier today, the Chief Minister also summoned the representative of ACC&I for a meeting which was attended by DyCM, Chowna Mein and CS Naresh Kumar.
Meanwhile, in the official communique,  the CS office clarified that the Lockdown was imposed for undertaking contact tracing and testing in a mission mode.
"Currently we have commenced our unlock measures and allowed almost all the business activity with left and right rules for opening and closing of shops, " the CS stated. The CS hinted that he would take a call on complete opening up after reviewing the situation on August 30 next.
On demand for automatic renewal of statutory licenses, the CS office stated that the Government completely agrees with the same and has given instructions to concerned departments including tax and excise, trade and commerce and District Administration to develop modalities in consultation with ACCI within a week's time.
"Those labourers and employees having valid ILP are now allowed to come to Arunachal and commence work after 5 days quarantine as per SOP.  For those who do not have valid ILP, the Department of Home will come up with a mechanism depending on the COVID-19 situation, " the CS office commented on request by ACC&I to allow the business owners to bring back the skilled and unskilled staffers.

In the meantime, the CS suggested the business community to rope in local unemployed youth who are willing to work.
Over the undue harassment of business community and coordination between police and administration, the CS said that Government reiterates zero tolerance for undue harassment by any public functionaries and assured to initiate strict action if a public servant is caught doing such things.
"The Government is keen that economic activities resume at optimum speed. We would continue to engage with ACCI on identifying ways and means to support the business community in these difficult times," the CS stated.
He further appreciated the ACC&I for participating in government efforts to have more meaningful engagements with bankers during the last few weeks to see that the flow of credit to businesses increases.
