ITANAGAR, Dec 11: The All Arunachal Abo Tani Association (AAATA) has urged the state government not to allow the non-APST candidates from participating in PR elections.
Speaking to the reporters here at a press conference today, AAATA Convenor Maji Tayem informed that the association had filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) with the Gauhati High Court over eligibility of non-APST in local body elections in the state. Claiming that Arunachal is a 100 per cent tribal state, the AAATA Convenor said that non-APSTs are not eligible to contest in the election. He further demanded the authorities concerned of the affected districts like Lohit, Namsai, Changlang and Papum Pare to immediately cancel the nominations of all non-APST candidates.
The association further threatened to move court if the concerned authority fails to cancel or debar the non-APSTs from taking part in the PR election.
