ITANAGAR, Nov 21: The Adi Bane Kebang (ABK) handed over Rs.4,50,083 to the Galo Welfare Society (GWS) on Friday as financial aid to the flood affected families of Ego valley which had occurred on September 17 in Dari circle under Leparada district which had left behind trails of vast devastation wherein two precious lives were lost while many people rendered homeless, their business establishments like shops and hotels washed away and causing severe damages to WRC, agricultural and horticultural lands.
The ABK President Getom Borang in his speech said that ABK is indebted to the humanitarian gesture initiated by GWS for providing financial aid to fire victims of Kaying village, in Siang district, which had occurred on 25th March where 54 houses along with a community hall were reduced to ashes in the fire.
He said that as a reciprocal gesture, the Adi community overwhelmingly volunteered to donate for the cause of flood victims of Ego valley.
The GWS President Tanga Kena on behalf of the Galo community and the flood affected families expressed his deepest gratitude to ABK and said the humanitarian gesture would go a long way in paving more bonhomie between Adi & Galo tribes and further strengthen the age-old brotherly relation between the two communities.
