ITANAGAR, Feb 13: Six years  since Chinese PLA's abduction  of 54- year-old Tapor Pullom  in 2015 from somewhere near the McMahon Line in Shi Yomi district, family members haven't lost hope of seeing him and has appealed the state government to take initiative to bring him back.
Speaking to the media at  the press club today, daughter-in-law of Tapor Pullom, Amoni Diru Pullom said that since 2015 they are trying their best to bring back Pullom who was abducted by the PLA in 2015 near Taji Boge area of Monigong Village in Shi-Yomi District.
"On 11 September 2015 my father-in-law and one of his colleagues from the same village, Taka Yorchi, went to the Taji Boge area which falls along the McMahon Line and around 50 km from Monigong to hunt and collect herbs but he was abducted by the PLA, whereas his colleague  managed to escape from the area," she said.
The family says that they had met Kiren Rijiju but nothing transpired.
"In 2015,  we met and made a request to the then Minister for State for Home Affairs, now Union Minister of Law & Justice, Kiren Rijiju but in vain. However, in 2020 five persons from Upper Subansiri were abducted by the PLA and also released within a week . Recently, Miram Taron from Upper Siang was also abducted and released within a week but the wait for our father-in-law remains a hope only," she lamented.
The family had also carried out several search operations with the help of locals as both the Military and Police refused to take up the issue, saying that it is sensitive and they are not authorized to take any major steps, she added while appealing the state and central government to take initiative to bring Tapor Pullom back or share information on his whereabouts.
She also expressed gratitude to MLA Ninong Ering and Member of Parliament Tapir Gao for raising the issue in parliament and urged the Union Minister Kiren Rijiju to initiate action on the matter.
