ITANAGAR, Nov 9: The All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) has opposed the decision of the Department of Health and Family Welfare to procure components related to Emergency Covid-19 Response Plan through Government e-Marketplace (GeM) and termed such move as against the spirit of " vocal for local".
It is learnt from reliable sources that resolutions has been adopted in the review meeting on implementation of ECRP-II on September 9th for procurement of components for ECRP-II to be carried under the Emergency Covid-19 Response Plan through GeM, the union said.
The AAPSU opined that the decision taken by the department to procure Emergency Covid-19 Response Plan through GeM is against the basic agenda of the State government of “vocal for local” and will hamper the employment opportunity of the local entrepreneurs of the State. The Union appealed the Minister for Health and Family to reconsider the decision on genuine grounds.
The decision is anti indigenous and violates the standing order of the State government relaxing procurement from GeM to encourage the local entrepreneurs. The decision is taken when the economy of the State is hit hard by the pandemic and the unemployment of the youths is large.
The decision curtails the local entrepreneurs who have lost their work and livelihood earnings since the last two years and are in grave need of such works, the union said.
Stating that it opposes the idea of encouraging entrepreneurs from outside the State curtailing the local entrepreneurs, AAPSU advocated for giving local entrepreneurs the work.
