ITANAGAR, Sep 23:The All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) in its representation to the Chief Minister Pema Khandu has demanded immediate suspension of Deputy Commissioner, Itanagar Capital Complex, Prince Dhawan for misusing the exchequer in the 4-lane highway construction from Chimpu to Papu Nallah including illegal reduction of Right of Way.

It further cautioned to launch democratic movement in the form of capital bandh if all fails.

The AAPSU stated that compensation amount of Rupees 42 Crore for beyond the RoW and Rupees 8.95 Crore for within the RoW released for dismantling of structures was disbursed to the listed beneficiaries after approval of false and inflated bills. However, many structures are still standing and still under possession of the beneficiaries, it claimed.

The width of the RoW (30/40 metres) has been drastically reduced to less than 18 to 24 metres which is totally against the Cabinet decision and the government notification 2006. It has come to light through the documents procured from the department of false and inflated bills especially by showing agriculture, horticulture and forestry items. If the State government and competent authorities do not comply to the Union’s demand within the stipulated time, the AAPSU will launch democratic movement of intensified capital complex bandh call, the release read.

 

Furthermore, the Union after garnering support from various district student unions and various community based organisations during the consultative meeting held on September 15 at Dorjee Khandu Convention Hall Itanagar, announced to launch the 2nd phase Operation Clean Drive across all districts shortly.

The AAPSU also suggested the government for strict implementation of the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation of 1873, Digitalization of ILP system at check gates, installation of CCTV including metal detectors, setting up of additional ILP checking points at various entry points.

Meanwhile seeking a blanket ban on rampant slaughtering of Mithuns for commercial purposes including hunting and killing of wildlife, it also demanded stringent actions against violators under the Wildlife Protection Act of 1972 and other regulations.
