ITANAGAR, Jun 10: A 3-member All Arunachal Pradesh Students' Union (AAPSU) team today called on Governor Brig. (Dr) B. D. Mishra (Retd.) here at the Raj Bhavan and submitted a representation to the Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs through his office seeking an early release of pre/post matric scholarship for the APST students.
While apprising the Governor about the untold sufferings of the state's students due to the second Covid wave and adoption of online/blended modes of education, the visiting team comprising the union’s VP (Admin.) Meje Taku, Convenor Tatung Taga and Education Secretary Prem Tallong informed him that the usual timing for official disbursement of the Centrally-sponsored umbrella scholarship scheme has elapsed and the competent authorities have somehow failed to make the release on time. Due to the new online teaching-learning process, irrespective of classes and streams the students are being compelled to purchase smartphones, the team said, adding that it is an extra financial burden in addition to the already existing problems. Under such circumstances, when scholarships are not released on time the students are at the receiving end, the AAPSU members said. The plight of the state’s students has aggravated due to lack of resources for continuing the online classes and unjustifiable delay in release of the scholarship amount, the union observed in its press release.
Meanwhile, an AAPSU delegation led by its Vice-President (Admin.) Meje Taku also met the Director (Medical Education) and the Principal Secretary (Finance & Health), GoAP on Wednesday to convey its grievance over delay in release of stipends for the state’s paramedical and nursing students. They urged the state government to release the pending stipends without further delay. AAPSU PR
