ITANAGAR, Aug 30: The All Arunachal Motor Transport Federation (AAMTF) today expressed concern over the shoddy execution of the four lane highway and blamed the Deputy Commissioner Capital Complex, Prince Dhawan for the overall disarray and chaos in the capital’s roads.
It further alleged that Right of the Way (RoW) for the 4-Lane was reduced less than the existing 2-Lane RoW. A survey conducted by volunteers found that the District Administration under the “inexperienced and corrupt” Deputy Commissioner was responsible for reducing of the Right of the Way (RoW) from 30 meters to 18 meters(From Chandranagar to Todo Hotel) and in the process, he (Dhawan) released several payments in the name of compensation from the exchequer in both cases (within and beyond) RoW.
Expressing concern over the lack of parking places for commercial vehicles in the Capital Complex, it urged the concerned authority to allot proper parking places within the jurisdiction of Chimpu to Banderdewa.
Addressing media persons here today, chairman AAMTF, Kipa Kanam said that due to non-availability of parking places passengers as well as drivers of various commercial vehicles are facing a lot of problems in the twin capital.
Despite many complaints and personal representations to the Extra Assistant Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner Capital Complex, there has been no tangible solution to the grievances of the federation, Kanam added.
The federation also expressed its resentment over a structure erected for vendors in the parking place near Akashdeep complex which was notified by the government and since used by commercial vehicles for last many decades, stated the chairman. Such structures in the middle of the town not only create nuisance for public and daily commercial vehicles but also affect the aesthetic of the town.
The union also informed that they have submitted representation to the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh and the Chief Secretary on the matter.
