ITANAGAR, May 29: All Arunachal Contractor’s Welfare Association (AACWA) in its press statement urged the state government to allow lifting of construction materials from hardware shops and quarries against ongoing projects while seeking special permits to contractors on the basis of work order through their executing agencies.
AACWA reiterated that the association has already submitted representation to Chief Secretary office on May 21 last, for some relaxation but the office had not responded till date. Contractors who are continuing their government awarded projects, their construction works has been halted due to shortage of construction materials like cement, TMT rods, sand, stone, chips and other construction materials due to the ongoing lockdown.
While citing the containment procedure of Assam, AACWA stated that the neighbouring state has adopted COVID Curfew and lockdown up to 12 noon, and the same can be adopted by Arunachal. Association also urged the Rural Development department for the early release of their long-pending MGNREGA bills of various contractors.
Meanwhile, it also suggested the state government to look towards the welfare of vegetable and meat vendors, commercial vehicles, etc who feed their families through daily basis earning.
