TEZU, Dec 8: In what that can be called an instance of telling drawback as well as irony, Government Higher Secondary School, Jeko located in the rural pocket of Sunpura Circle in Lohit district, which is an English medium school is running without English teachers, both PGT and TGT for the last nine months.
This was revealed by the newly joined Deputy Director of School Education (DDSE) Lohit district, Pakya Koyu during an inspection. Narrating the difficulties faced by the school, Principal Gebi Megu expressed dismay over the way she has been sending repeated reminders to the Director of Secondary Education for immediate posting of English teachers, which unfortunately have gone unheard.
Taking note of the urgent need, the DDSE has also appealed to the Director of Secondary Education for early posting of English teachers for making the school’s CBSE 2021 results better. “We have already suffered badly in terms of completion of curriculum due to COVID-19 pandemic. The lack of subject teachers is yet another obstacle to complete the syllabus within the remaining academic year which has already been curtailed,” the DDSE regretted. According to the notification issued by the government, Classes X and XII of CBSE board are now being conducted offline and it is a challenge for the school to cover the syllabus within the short time left, the Principal informed. Established in 1965, the school happens to be the only HSS in the Circle catering to quality educational needs of students.
Meanwhile, the DDSE and the accompanying officials also made an assessment of the dilapidated Government Secondary School, Yeliang.
