ITANAGAR, Mar 14: The three-day Easterly Essence Ledum, a Birding Expedition, concluded on Sunday at Ledum in East Siang district. The expedition saw participation from reputed Tour and Travel Agents, Medicinal Specialists & Scientists, reputed bird guides, nature enthusiasts and an NGO- Global Himalayan Expedition. A total of 87 species of birds including rare birds like White-cheeked Partridge, Chestnut-breasted Partridge, Gray Peacock Pheasant, Red faced Liocichla, White-tailed Nuthatch, Mountain Scops Owl, Collared Owlet among many others were identified and photographed.
It is pertinent to mention that Ledum, selected as Model Village for Tourism in 2018 under East Siang District has been in the limelight for organising Easterly Essence Ledum festival (2019), for conducting 2nd edition of Pasighat Butterfly Meet(2019), Trek to Ene lake under Destination   Ledum (2018), for being the first Mural village in Arunachal, selected as cleanest village, conducting regular workshop on Home Stays and Textiles and handicrafts crafts, organic farming etc.
Activities like Cycling, Archery, Angling, Trekking, Painting and cultural nights were also held during the event.
The last remaining Air gun in the village belonging to one Tater Taying was surrendered during the event to chief guest DFO Tasi Mize.
Unwavering community support and sustainable eco tourism model, has led Picturesque Ledum to be touted as the next Big Tourist Village Destination in the State. With Covid Pandemic restrictions subsiding and government’s focus on sustainable eco tourism to boost village tourism in the State of Arunachal Pradesh, Ledum promises to be an apt example of hope, aspiration and gateway to serentity.
