Itanagar, Oct 28: The Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Itanagar Capital Region, successfully conducted the Draw of Lot for Women Reservation of Corporators and Mayor under the Itanagar Municipal Corporation (IMC) today at the Pare Hall, DK State Convention Centre, Itanagar. The exercise was conducted under the provision of Arunachal Pradesh Municipal Corporation Act, 2019.
The programme commenced at 11:00 AM with a Welcome Address by Shri Toko Babu, APCS, Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Municipal Election Officer, ICR, who emphasized the significance of inclusivity and equitable representation in grassroots governance. This was followed by a brief on the Municipal Election 2025 delivered by Shri Khoda Lasa, Assistant Commissioner (Election). The occasion was graced by Techi Kaso, MLA of 13-Itanagar (ST), and Nabam Vivek, MLA of 14-Doimukh (ST) Assembly Constituency, along with Biri Basang, Deputy Mayor of IMC. They shared their views on promoting democratic participation and strengthening women’s leadership in urban local governance. The Draw of Lots was conducted in the presence of Board Members, Corporators, Political Party Representatives, and Departmental Officials. 
 As per the result of the draw, seven out of twenty Municipal Wards of the IMC have been reserved for Women (ST) candidates for the forthcoming Municipal Election. The wards reserved are: Ward Nos. 1 , 3, 5, 7, 8, 18 and 20.
In addition, the Office of the Mayor, IMC, has been reserved for a female candidate for upcoming Municipal Election 2025.
