TEZU, Sep 29: After 22 COVID – 19 cases was detected in RK Mission School, Narottam Nagar, Deomali in Tirap district recently, 52 students of VKV Tafragam girl’s residential School in Lohit district have reportedly tested COVID – 19 positive through Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) on Tuesday. A health team headed by District Surveillance Officer Dr S Towang today rushed to the school premises today after the news of COVID outbreak.
Out of the 52 Covid positive cases detected, 47 are students and 5 are teaching staff including the Principal of the school. Most of the students are asymptomatic however two teaching staff are symptomatic with comorbidity.
"There is nothing to worry; we are keeping constant vigil and special ambulance has been kept in standby to meet up any emergency," Dr Towang said.
Meanwhile, the entire school will be declared as containment zone by the Lohit administration after submission of the detail report on Thursday. A source further disclosed that most of the students were taken back by their parents immediate after the news of COVID – 19 positive cases was reported in the school.
Today too most of the students left with their parents, added the source.
