PASIGHAT, Sep 3: Joining the rest of the nation in taking the Poshan Abhiyaan to address nutritional deficiencies, Bogong-II ZPM Ogam Mengu today launched the ceremonial beginning of Poshan Maah (Poshan Month) at a function held at the Berung village, few kilometers from the district headquarters Pasighat here.
Launching the programme, ZPM Mengu said the objective of the month-long programme was to ensure that India is malnutrition-free by 2022.
Poshan Abhiyaan has been launched in the district and the state as a whole to emphasize the need for healthy nutrition and it should be the one-liner objective to generate awareness about this mission to involve more and more people so that no targeted group is left behind. Special emphasis should be given in the rural areas and emphasized the need for coordination, convergence and cordiality among all the stakeholders for making the Poshan Maah a huge success. Mengu urged the DD (ICDS) and CDPOs to motivate the stakeholders to transform the Poshan Abhiyaan into a jana andolan (mass movement) so that no target group is deprived of essential nutrition. He also appealed to everybody to propel Poshan Abhiyaan as a tool to social empowerment.

While delivering keynote address, DD (ICDS) Machi Gao informed that special focus would be given for massive plantation drive in schools, gram-panchayats, Anganwadi centers and other places along with sensitization/awareness campaign for observance of Covid protocols etc.
The launching ceremony was organized at the Berung Musup by the DD (ICDS) Machi Gao in collaboration with the 38th Pasighat ST Morcha and was participated by the CDPOs of Pasighat, Mebo, Ruksin and Ramle Banggo, presidents and secretary of ST Morcha, GB, village secretary, Anganwadi Workers and villagers.
