The angling festival was organized by Dosing Social Welfare Society (DSWS) Youth Wing  over the course of three days from August 22-24. Local MLA Ojing Tasing, Deputy Commissioner Siang Atul Tayeng, State Tourism Director Abu Tayeng and DSWS Chairman Tangong Mibang attended the event on the final day.
Speaking to reporters, MLA Tasing, who was the chief guest, pressed on the need to preserve the ecological balance. Due to the change in water course and decrease in water volume, there were less numbers of fish caught this year, he said. He said that the confluence is the best spot for fishing and also has the capacity to attract lots of tourists with a wide range of water sports and camping activities. He also encouraged the burgeoning hospitality industry and advised people to start ‘home stays’ with the assistance of the Tourism department so as to attract anglers and tourists from around the world.
Congratulating the winners of the angling festival, Tasing said that the Pangin-Boleng area is naturally god gifted. From Rotung to Pangin, it’s famous for Anlgo-Abor war and other areas are potential tourism hotspots.
Tasing also said that every effort is being made from his end to provide every communication accessibility and better facilities to increase tourist flow in the area.
The DC spoke on the appeal of sustainable tourism and urged the public to protect and preserve resources. He also extended the assistance of the district administration in improvement of spot infrastructure.
