ITANAGAR, May 28:  It had been a difficult day for the state with a massive surge in fresh Covid cases and with two more deaths, the casualty tally increased to 111.
A 55-yr old female Covid patient from Changlang district with the comorbidity of hypertension who was vaccinated with the first dose expired today at AMCH Dibrugarh due to cardio respiratory failure. A 79-yr old male Covid patient from the ICR with kidney ailment and not vaccinated died on Thursday evening at DCH Chimpu.
While on the previous day the new Covid cases numbered 444, today it went up to 497 (asymptomatic 357, symptomatic 140). ICR remained the prominent hotspot with 103 new cases followed by Tawang 67, Namsai 64, LDV 46 and Lower Subansiri 44, the other major contributors, taking the active tally to 3854. However, recoveries saw an improvement over the previous day with a total of 333 (ICR 89, Namsai 48, Lower Subansiri 38, Upper Subansiri 32, Anjaw 31 the first 5 districts). With these new recoveries, the state’s discharge tally is now 22352. A total of 8216 samples were also collected on the day from all the districts.
In terms of Covid vaccination, 248 individuals in the 18-44 age group were vaccinated on the day with the first dose and as of May 28, 20399 have been vaccinated with dose 1. In the 45+ category, 699 were vaccinated with dose 1 on the day which took the count to 146837. With 9 vaccinations, the 2nd dose tally is now 35860.
Occupancy status at the CCCs as of May 28 was- 51 at DCH Chimpu, 48 at SQF Lekhi, 4 at DCHC Midpu, 6 at DCH Pasighat and 33 at DCHC.
