ZIRO, Jan 30: 37 species of birds were sighted during the 12th edition of the Ziro Bird Walk today. Significant sightings were Striated Laughing Thrush, Rufous Vented Yuhina, Dark rumped Rose Finch, Silver eared Mesia, Nepal Fulveta, Orange bellied leaf bird, Streak throated Barwing, Kalij Pheasant, Fire breasted flowerpecker and Grey cheeked warbler.
The main objective of the Ziro Bird Walk is to spread awareness among the local people on the importance of birds in ecological and economical perspectives. Through this initiative people from all walks of society, walked together through different community forests and bonded together for the cause of wildlife conservation. 
Participating in the walk, Deputy Commissioner Swetika Sachan appealed to all the denizens of Lower Subansiri to join hands in protecting and preserving the flora and fauna.
Lauding the efforts of the Arunachal Birding Club and Ngunu Ziro, she added “Such initiatives will definitely snowball into a conscious effort from all to protect our wildlife, especially birds.”
The bird walk was led by Millo Tako,  a birder and a wildlife photographer. Among others Harsh Raj Wathore (IFS) Hapoli Forest Division, Dr. Tage Kanno, DMO, Tuter Dubi, DHO, Kamle, members of Ngunu Ziro and children joined the bird watch. DIPRO
