ITANAGAR, Oct 15: Along with the rest of India, the National Animal Disease Control Programme (NADCP), a nation-wide government flagship program, under Animal Health Sector has been launched in all the districts of Arunachal Pradesh. The program aims to vaccinate all the cloven-footed livestock such as cattle, buffalo, sheep, goats, and pigs, against Foot & Mouth Disease and Brucellosis in all the female calves of 4-8 months of age.
The programme was launched nation-wide by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi on 11 September 2019. However, due to a shortfall in logistics supply, such as ear tags, livestock vaccines, to cover 500 million livestock of the entire country, the programme was started in a phased manner by dividing the country into three zones Animal Breeder, Directorate of AHV & DD, Nirjuli, Dr. Karbom Basar said in a press release.
Basar said that Arunachal Pradesh, along with the rest of the North-Eastern States was supposed to launch the programme on 25  September 2020. However, due to late receipt of Ear Tags & FMD Vaccines from the Government of India, the launch was postponed to 15 October 2020.
In the first phase in Arunachal Pradesh, starting from 15 October to 15 December 2020, altogether 3, 45,600 cattle heads, including buffalo, will be registered, vaccinated, and uploaded in the INAPH Portal, Basar added.
