AALO, Apr 8: More than 2682 beneficiaries in West Siang district who have lost their livelihoods due to the lockdown have been extended benefits from the SDRF fund out of the targeted 3000.
This was informed by Nodal Officers, DDMO Dorjee Nima and DLEO Sapbi Yomcha. They disclosed that 11 persons are being provided food at the relief camp, 9 with essential ration items and for 2673 migrants labourers across the district, ration items have also been arranged.
Meanwhile, traditional rituals to ward off the disease continue in villages and sectors continue barricading their colonies to prevent outsiders from entering. This embargo has been extended till April 14. However, besides essential commodities, medical team, police and magistrates are extending their help through volunteers put up in each location round the clock. The first phase of vegetable distribution through the Department of Agriculture from Nyiko Bango comprising of Logum Jini, Biru, Eyi have been completed and Kabu, Darka, Pobdi Bene and other villages will come forward to meet up the scarcity which has arisen due to ban on entry of vegetables from other states.
In a goodwill gesture, Aalo Jama Masjid Trust donated Rs. 25,000 to the DMO as a financial assistance for combating the Covid-19 pandemic in the district.DIPRO
