ITANAGAR, Jun 24: On a day when the state saw a tie between news cases and recoveries, two more succumbed to Covid, taking the casualty toll to 162.
Both the deaths occurred in Lohit district late on Thursday evening. A 48-yr old male Covid patient with cirrhosis of liver and not vaccinated expired at the casualty room in Tezu due to Covid-induced ARDS. The other case was of a 58-yr old male who was suffering from type II diabetes who also expired at the casualty room in Tezu. He was vaccinated with the first dose and the immediate cause of death was Covid-induced ARDS.
298 new Covid cases (asymptomatic 181; symptomatic 117) were registered in the state today. ICR (68), West Kameng (29), Namsai (22), Upper Subansiri (20), Lower Subansiri (19) and Lohit (19) were the first six districts in a descending order of number of fresh additions. In an equal number of recoveries (298), the first 6 districts were- West Kameng (42), ICR (32), Namsai (35), East Siang (27), Changlang (25) and Lohit (21). The number of active Covid cases of the state on Friday evening stood at 2565 and recoveries have increased to 31487. 5325 samples were collected from across the state on the day with ICR retaining the number one position (1018) like the previous days.
Meanwhile, in the '18 years and above' age category, 12812 (18-44: 11281 ; 45+ : 1427) took their first dose on the day which took the coverage to 55%. 543 also took their 2nd shot that helped the coverage to reach 10%. In terms of age-wise overall coverage (dose 1+ dose 2), as of Friday it was 30% for 18-44, 73 % for 45+, 81% for HCWs and 92% for FLWs.
Occupancy status at the CCCs till 8 pm on Friday evening was: 40 at DCH Chimpu, 21 at SQF Lekhi, 0 at DCHC Midpu, 7 at DCH Pasighat and 18 at DCHC.
