RUKSIN, May 26: After intensifying vigil on cattle smuggling and other illegal activities carried out by miscreants in Ruksin Circle of East Siang district, Ruksin police on Monday after conducting a number of searches arrested two persons from Lingka area and recovered the livestock which was on the way to be smuggled to Bangladesh via Assam.
The apprehended cattle smugglers have been identified as Pranjal Doley from Gali village under Jonai PS in Assam and Kishore Kumbang, also from the same place. A case (No. 7/2021 u/s 379/511/34 of the IPC) has been registered at Ruksin PS. According to police sources, more smugglers are yet to be nabbed and some local people are also involved in the illegal cattle smuggling trade.
Superintendent of Police, Pasighat S.K Jha has lauded the Ruksin police team for arresting the inter-state cattle smugglers and assured to nab the rest of the lot. It’s worth mentioning that cattle smuggling has always been a major concern in the region.
