KHONSA, Jul 26:  Acting on a tip-off, the Khonsa Battalion of Assam Rifles along with Tirap Police in a joint operation today apprehended two hardcore insurgents of the NSCN (K-YA) who actually hail from Myanmar.
The team cordoned off the suspected jhum hut and conducted a successful operation displaying coordination. Along with the arrests, huge quantities of weapons, ammunition, miscellaneous items items like ration, clothing and NSCN documents were seized. The two hardcore NCSN (K-YA) active insurgents have been identified as No - 15717, Batch - 2006, Rank -Self Styled Sergeant Major Komthok Ngongpa (37) resident  of Longbo (Myanmar), District - Nyamyong (Myanmar) and  Self Styled Private Chungaung ( 27) from  Pannem (Myanmar), District - Nyamyong (Myanmar). During the operation, two point 32 mm pistols, one 1500 grams IED, 13  point 32 mm pistol live ammunition, five  7 point 62 mm AK 47 and  one  9 mm pistol live ammunition were recovered from the insurgents.
During spot interrogation, the cadres revealed that both of them are active cadres of  the NSCN (K-YA) and were tasked by self-styled Lieutenant Colonel Thokwang Hodong, a resident of Lazu village to infiltrate  the Indian territory in Lazu Circle for extortion activities and executing  sabotage and nefarious activities against security forces in south Arunachal Pradesh.
In a shocking revelation it has transpired that both the cadres acted as a reconnaissance party for selection of a suitable area to plant an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) to target the security forces between Sanliam village and Barab Nala and cause casualties before August 15. Both of them succeeded in getting extortion money from Raho and Sinnu villages, but before they could carry out the next round of extortion from other villages and plant the IED, the security forces managed to apprehend them.
The duo also revealed that both are natives of Myanmar and one of them who identified himself as self-styled Sergeant Major Komthok Ngongpaw claimed he was the personal bodyguard of self-styled Lieutenant Colonel Thokwang Hodong. 
The apprehended insurgents,along with recoveries have been handed over to Lazu Police Station for further interrogation. DIPRO
