ITANAGAR, Jul 8:

The Gauhati High Court Itanagar Permanent Bench High Court Legal Services and the various Legal Services Authorities across the state today conducted national Lok Adalat in their respective courts as a part of the nationwide schedule of Lok Adalat and wherein a total of 196 cases comprising of civil, criminal and bank recovery cases were disposed off and compensation settled at Rs 77,61,849.

As a part of the process, the Itanagar Bench of Gauhati High Court also conducted Lok Adalat in the High Court premises which was presided by Justice Ajit  Borthakur, Judge, Gauhati High Court, wherein a total of  nine numbers of Motor Accident Claims and Appeals were taken up for hearing. The Hon’ble Justice expressed his displeasure to the Insurance Companies in not coming forward for settlement of the motor accident cases in spite of the case being listed for Lok Adalat.
