ITANAGAR, Dec 8: There will be elections in at least 143 Zilla Parishad seats out of 242 as 97 candidates have already been declared unopposed or there have been withdrawal of candidatures on the last day for withdrawing nominations which was December 7 last.
This was informed today by Nodal Officer, State Election Commission, Habung Lampung. Speaking to the media, Lampung informed that out of 242 ZP seats in the state, 71 are reserved for women. The entire election process in Vijaynagar in Changlang district has been kept in abeyance including one ZPC seat in Hawai in Anjaw district due to litigation, he divulged. 
“Reports are still coming in, so accurate details are still awaited,” the Nodal Officer added. 
Elaborating on the Gram Panchayat segment, he informed that there are at least 8000 Gram Panchayat seats in the state and although full records are yet to arrive, there will be elections in 806 GP seats and in 1914 such seats there will be no contest as the candidates have either withdrawn their candidatures or there are no contesting opponents.
Speaking on Municipal elections, the Nodal Officer informed that at least 5 Corporators have been elected unopposed in the Itanagar Municipal Corporation (IMC) out of a total of 20 wards and in case of Pasighat Municipal Corporation(PMC), at least 17 candidates are in the race to be elected as Corporators.
All major parties like the BJP, Congress, JDU, NPP and others are fielding their candidates for both the Municipal elections.
