ITANAGAR, Jul 18:  State government has placed  order for 26 TrueNat machines for de-centralization of testing, informed Secretary Health, P Parthiban while speaking to the media during a virtual press conference here on Saturday.
He also informed that each TrueNat machine costs Rs 14 lakh and needs to be paid in advance to the manufacturing company. The delay in receiving the machine is because there is only one manufacturing company of TrueNat machines in the country, he informed.
TrueNat can help in both screening and confirmation and as of now 14 machines have been received and  7 labs already established, added Secretary Health.
When asked about report on shortage of accommodation for Covid-19 positive persons in state quarantine center, Lekhi, Parthiban informed that Deputy Commissioner Capital Region will identify more places for Covid Care Center within a couple of days.
Further, he also informed that everyone coming into the state will have to go through rapid antigen test on the 6th day of arrival.
“As the antigen test result comes within an hour, this will greatly reduce the number of days taken up by the RT-PCR test which takes longer with so many backlogs,” he said.
Parthiban also informed that the paramilitary forces and army would also have to go through the antigen test irrespective of whether they show symptoms or not unlike the earlier SOP.
He further added that with the reduction in the days for test results with antigen test, people will be discharged earlier if tested negative with no symptoms.
“As approved by ICMR, positive of the antigen test result is taken as true positive and if the result is negative then further confirmation will be done by TrueNat which again is taken as confirmatory for negative result,” informed Parthiban.
