TEZU, Apr 27: With the 132 KV Ranganadi power transmission line traversing through Hoj, Aalo, Pasighat, Roing, Tezu and Namsai remaining out of order since Monday, power crisis has gripped the districts of Eastern Arunachal.
According to Power Division, Lohit the major fault in the 132 KV line between Aalo and Pasighat is yet to be identified, delaying commencement of repair works. To mitigate the crisis, power is being supplied from 33 KV Rupai, EE Power, Hage Gumto informed. However, power quality of 33 KV voltage has failed to satisfy the consumers. Even LED bulbs which need low voltage failed to glow and essential summer electrical gadgets like fans, refrigerators, coolers etc. have stopped functioning, a citizen on condition of anonymity rued, expressing apprehension that power situation in the coming monsoon in eastern districts will deteriorate further.
Comprehensive improvement of power scenario in these districts is expected only after completion of ongoing works of the 132 KV transmission line from Chapakhowa (Sadiya) to Roing passing through Rupai (Assam). Superintendent of Power, Lohit said the project is expected to be completed before winter this year.
