Governor graces the 1st Convocation of APU
Ziro, Oct 30: The 12th District Level NCORD (National Committee on Drug Eradication) Committee Meeting was convened here today under the chairmanship of Oli Perme, Deputy Commissioner, Lower Subansiri.
The meeting was attended by the Keni Bagra, Superintendent of Police (Member Convener), HODs, representatives of CRPF/ITBP, TSD, AWAZ, AYA, other officials and police personnel.
During the meeting, members reviewed the follow-up actions on the recommendations of the 11th NCORD meeting and discussed strategies to intensify anti-narcotics measures across the district. The committee emphasized greater publicity of the MANAS Portal through public displays, social media platforms and cinema halls to spread awareness against drug abuse.
A key point of discussion was the need for a targeted awareness campaign among farmers to curb illicit poppy and opium cultivation. The issue of availability and adequacy of drug testing kits was also deliberated upon, with directions for ensuring timely supply and effective usage at field levels.
The Chairperson reiterated the district administration’s commitment to a coordinated and sustained fight against the drug menace and called upon all stakeholder departments to work in close coordination.
The meeting concluded with an appeal to the public to join hands in building a drug-free society through community vigilance and awareness.
