ITANAGAR/LAGGI GAMLIN, Mar 26:  In view of the inordinate delay in execution Pradhan Mantri Grameen Sadak Yojna(PMJSY) road from Yomcha to Laggi Gamlin which is languishing for the last ten years, the Village Development Committee has urged the state government and specially the concerned department to look after the grievances of the residents of the area.

The PMGSY road from Yomcha to Laggi Gamlin was sanctioned under the Rural Works Department, Government of AP in the fiscal year 2006-07. The project was commissioned to M/s Tectonics, Nagaland and as per the sanction order the project was to be completed in 12 months; however, the road still awaits completion even after a decade.

Even though many complaint letters were submitted to the concerned personnel in the department, no action was initiated. The complaint was then moved to State Information Commission and upon its intervention a committee for site verification under the Chairmanship of ADC, Yomcha was constituted. Though work is underway now, the Village Development Committee is miffed as the original order sanction included blacktopping where as the current work does not include the same.

‘As the road is the only means of connectivity to the last villages of the frontier, this decade long delay has made life difficult for the denizens. Due to the lack of road connectivity, other developmental projects are also hindered. Due to the current state of the road, which is non-motorable, all inhabitants of the area still have to walk to their respective villages,’ said Terdam Gamlin, Chairman, Laggi-Paggi Village Development Committee in a press release.

The committee has further announced to move the issue to the National Rural Road Development Agency (NRRDA) if the matter is not resolved soon.
