ITANAGAR, May 19: Although new Covid cases in the state dipped marginally on Wednesday, recoveries which on the earlier day saw a substantial jump fell markedly and with one more death the casualty tally is now 89.
The lone Covid patient who expired was a 58-yr old male suffering from the comorbidities of hypertension and diabetes and had taken the first dose of the vaccine on April 18 last. He died at his residence in Doimukh, Papum Pare district on Wednesday morning due to cardio respiratory failure.
It needs adding that Covid casualty rate in Arunachal Pradesh during the prevailing 2nd wave has been much higher compared to the 1st wave.
While there were 56 casualties in total in 2020, during May 10-19 of the current year, a total of 29 had already expired.
Of the 337 new cases(asymptomatic 183, symptomatic 154) added on the day, 75 were from the ICR, followed by Lower Subansiri 39, Tawang 37, Kamle 28, Upper Subansiri 27, Lohit 22, Namsai 21, West Kameng 19, Changlang 15 and LDV 14. This has taken the state’s active Covid tally to 2585.
Meanwhile, recoveries on Wednesday saw a fall over the previous day. After Tuesday’s 302 recoveries, there were only 148 on Wednesday with ICR witnessing the maximum with 57, followed by LDV with 20 and Changlang with 16.
This has taken the state’s discharge tally to 20125. 4509 samples for Covid tests were also collected from across the state.
A total of 2295 Covid patients are currently under home isolation in the state and so far as occupancy status at the CCCs is concerned, as of May19 it was 44 at DCH Chimpu, 35 at SQF Lekhi, 5 at DCHC Midpu, 3 at DCH Pasighat and 42 at DCHC.
