ITANAGAR, Feb 25: In the wake of several complaints of theft in the capital complex, the Capital Police arrested three persons and recovered dozens of stolen items including mobile phones, LPG cylinders  and two-wheelers.
Taking strong exception,  SP Capital Jimmy Chiram, constituted a special anti-theft team led by SDPO Itanager Kamdam Sikom.
On  February 16 last, a suspect one Tok Chahar (21), was apprehended and interrogated thoroughly and was found to be involved in a case registered at Itanagar police station and accordingly arrested. A stolen LPG cylinder and a mobile phone were recovered from him. He further  disclosed that one Ropo Bagang (22) and Ato Changrang  are involved in criminal activities like lifting of two wheelers, gas cylinders, car batteries and snatching mobile & cash etc in Itanagar Capital Region. Further, he volunteered to show where  Ropo Bagang and his friends hide after committing a crime.
The police team raided an abandoned house located in a deep jungle near Senki View, where both the named accused were sleeping. During search, suspicious two-wheelers lifting tools were recovered. Later on, a suo-moto case has been registered and endorsed for further investigation.
During the course of the investigation, the duo disclosed of lifting motorcycles (11), Scooty (16), LPG cylinder (10), mobile phone (7) including cash from various sectors of the twin capital complex along with their friends. The stolen goods were sold at Banderdewa (Assam), Seppa including Itanagar at cheaper prices. Later, the duo were found to be involved in seven cases registered at the Itanagar Police Station.
Based on their disclosure, Police team could recover few of the stolen properties from the Capital complex and Banderdewa (Assam).
A special team was also sent to Seppa along with accused Ropo Bagang, to recover two-wheelers which were sold at Seppa. After rigorous efforts,  six stolen two wheelers were recovered from Seppa.
In another case, Police arrested a habitual thief  one Sunil Gumja (20) from IG Park in the instant case ITA PS Case no. 55/22 u/s 380 and recovered electronic items from him.
SP Capital has lauded the excellent work done by the police team for cracking a series of robbery and theft cases registered at various Police Stations in ICR. He also assured that, all the receivers of stolen properties will be booked u/s 411 IPC and will be punished as per law. He further requested the public to be more cautious and keep sharp vigil on such anti-social elements and Call ‘112’ ERSS for immediate Police assistance.
