Eastern Sentinel Arunachal News

Union MoS for Tourism and Culture who just concluded his two-day visit to the state has said emphatically that Arunachal Pradesh is a state which has got lots of potential in the tourism sector. His assurance that the central government will extend all possible help for realising the state’s true potential will also usher hope. This is really an arena which both the centre and the state government must work in tandem since it will solve the rising unemployment problems of the state to a great extent and boost the overall economy in a significant way.
It has always been a lament for the state that despite being gifted by nature in an enormous way, tourism hasn’t really picked up. Arunachal is perhaps among a  few states in the whole of the country where each and every district has something unique to offer. Thanks to the visitors who also eventually present their sojourns via You Tube, Arunachal has over the last few years become a dream destination. It is for sure that after going through these videos the irresistible urge to visit this place is sure to multiply. This can easily be corroborated by any travel agent of the country who will perhaps unanimously chant their stories of getting bombarded with phone enquiries from prospective tourists- when to visit, how to visit, hotels and all other sorts. But can it be said with confidence that these people who so often watches the travel videos on Arunachal or makes enquiries really travel to the state. Had it been so, the footfalls would have portrayed a rather healthy figure. The reasons are known and  that’s where the shoe pinches. Lack of connectivity, both inter-state as well as intra-state coupled with lack of certain basic infrastructure are the main drawbacks that sadly had remained unaltered over the decades. A commercial airport that is the most desirable option to connect the state with the rest of the country is still a dream. Then there are problems of roads which is also a cause of constant worries. Internet connectivity has somehow got interlinked with tourism these days as it has now become a new way of holidaying. Making videos and capturing snaps and sending it instantly to the friends and relatives is now the new normal of any travel plan in the current age of internet. It’s also a point that the state needs to work out earnestly. As a whole these are the unavoidable homeworks which the state must do if it wants to brighten its tourism prospects.
By the time the airport comes up, there will be only a three-year time period and this time frame can be used to take care of the other infrastructural necessities. It will be only then when the state can reach the stage to throw stiff competition to the current front ranking tourists destinations and emerge in its true colours.
