Eastern Sentinel Arunachal News

The 150th birth anniversary celebration of Mahatma Gandhi in Arunachal Pradesh can be termed as extraordinary in the sense that on this very day, the state got a mass awakening movement which goes by the name of ‘Hamara Arunachal Abhiyan’ or HAA in short. The movement which is the idea of the state Home Ministry led by Bamang Felix has got some fine objectives all throughout. But the central theme is the most important one, which is to make Arunachal progressive in all fronts and take it to the heights which it should have reached long before. Even if it is not the time to foresee the ultimate achievements, the goals it pursue  are very much relevant to the state’s contemporary and changing socio-economic dynamics. In the developmental canvas of the country, Arunachal is an aspirational state and in the process of revamping itself. The process is on and if HAA does its part in the way it envisages, it needs no mentioning that this will act as a supplementary dose.
The movement has just kicked off and will encompass the whole of state having a frontal aim of brightening law and order situation by fostering police-public partnership and furthering coordination between the state’s communities. The approach of taking into confidence the common people is innovative and the model has also previously got success in various states and if both sides  i.e police and public come close, the task will be much easier no doubt. But for that it is the police themselves who should take the good portion of overall initiative in removal of the long-standing social stigmas attached with them. Dealing with crimes in a state like Arunachal with porous borders which are also witnessing more newer and inventive forms is quite daunting and for ensuring a constant flow of inputs, better known as ‘tiff-offs’, it is the public which is the best friend of the police. If this is the principal agenda that will act as the propeller for taking the movement forward, background goals which deals with the equally vital social aspects  of domestic violence, crime against women, child labour, drug abuse, indigenous language preservation & promotion, prevention of money culture in election to name a few, must also receive similar impetus. Arunachal’s problems are countless that had accumulated over decades and taken now the shape of this huge proportion. It suffers from a congenital infirmity due to serious lack of infrastructure that is the main cause of disinterest among the investors thus proving as obstacles to economic progress.
With that argument, it will always be welcomed if ‘Hamara Arunachal Abhiyan’ gradually transforms itself into a catalyst for reaching the greater progressive goals of the state.
