Eastern Sentinel Arunachal News

Arunachal Pradesh along with the rest is celebrating the milestone as India completes 100 crore covid vaccination. It is a commendable achievement as it was a herculean task given the enormous population and also the sheer effort to overcome vaccine hesitancy among the masses.
The occasion is a time to celebrate and also reflect on the commitment of our healthcare and frontline workers who stood tall against a highly infectious novel virus. Let us also take this moment to remember those who lost their lives in the line of duty. Our thoughts are also with the families who can never be  the same because of covid.
The acceleration in vaccination and the dip in Covid positive cases has brought a sense of relief and life is slowly returning to normal. However, we must not delude ourselves that the threat of Covid-19 is anywhere near over. Coronavirus is still a menacing threat which demands strict adherence to covid appropriate behaviour and Standard Operating Procedures.
It is imperative that citizens are not negligent towards simple yet effective habits of wearing face masks, using hand sanitizers and social distancing. October heralds the beginning of the festive season and any carelessness now will have ramifications after few months. As all educational institutions have began physical classes after remaining closed for one and a half years, society or rather adults have a greater responsibility. Containing the marauding spread of Covid-19 has been solely riding on vaccination of the entire population, we must remember that the most vulnerable, the young children haven't yet been administered any vaccine.
Living with Covid-19 is the new normal and our diligence is crucial for keeping it under control.
