Eastern Sentinel Arunachal News

The tension between India and China which brewed for over last six weeks finally saw blood on Monday night and the reports so far that had percolated suggest that casualties have been caused to both sides. The country has lost three soldiers guarding the frontiers including a Commanding Officer of the unit posted in Galwan river valley. The Chinese ‘efforts’ to disturb India under any pretext can be compared with a soap opera and going by their ‘usual behaviour’, the event is hardly surprising. The most incomprehensible aspect of the episode is that it has all happened when both the nations are facing the same adversity- the deadly coronavirus. It defies all logic that where from an inspiration to build a war-like atmosphere, which has all elements to be viewed as a forerunner to a future full-scale war is derived by the Chinese, given that the pandemic is escalating and resurfacing in their side also. But, it’s not impossible for them and there are solid preceding instances. From diplomatic parleys to guns- it’s a tense situation now with apprehensions looming large that it might be a war once more.
The state-controlled Chinese media has swiftly devoted itself to build a propaganda exercise that it is India who was the first to incite trouble. A few examples will expose their oblique ways of hurtling threats- “Indian side shouldn’t be arrogant and misread Chinese restraint as weakness,” “Seriously violation of the consensus reached for calming tensions by crossing border line, provoking and attacking the Chinese personnel” and so on. But, from various reports, it is evident that at the origin of the trouble which is Eastern Ladakh encompassing the specific troubled zones namely Pangong Tso, Galwan Valley, Demchok and Daulat Beg Oldie, it’s the Chinese PLA in sizeable numbers that lit the first spark by transgressing into the Indian side of the de-facto border points. After this, for the sake of upholding territorial integrity, Indian Army has been compelled to reciprocate. It must be taken into account that this is despite the ‘fruitful negotiations’ as claimed by both the countries. After this, it must be clear that China, in these talks, although appearing outwardly ‘serious’ had been intrinsically shrewd with larger heinous intentions.
In the context of the current situation which is at the developing stage, Arunachal is still not in talks since it has not evolved as a flare-up zone as yet. But, as it shares a long boundary with this most-hostile nation and had been the main playground of the lost war of 1962, an extra vigil and military preparedness is highly needed at the moment.
China will take just a few hours to relocate its artillery from Ladakh to Arunachal. Central government must take note of it.
