ZIRO, Oct 18: In a continued effort to combat drug-related crimes, Ziro police arrested a suspected drug peddler on the night of October 17-18, based on a credible tip-off. The accused, Hano Doley, a habitual offender, was found in possession of suspected contraband shortly after arriving in Ziro from North Lakhimpur, Assam.
The arrest took place at 12:05 AM when a police team, led by SDPO O. Lego, and including SI J. Doye, ASIs C. Tallo, and P. Novin, under the direct supervision of SP Keni Bagra, raided Doley's residence. The operation was conducted in the presence of Executive Magistrate T. Yangchen.
During the search, police seized 33 plastic vials containing suspected heroin, weighing 48.3 grams, along with three mobile handsets and two used syringes. The seized contraband suggests that the accused was involved in drug peddling activities in the region.
A case has been registered under the relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and further investigations are underway to determine the full extent of Doley's involvement in the drug network.
This arrest is part of Ziro police’s ongoing campaign against drug trafficking, as they continue to tighten their grip on the illegal drug trade in the area.
