ITANAGAR, Sep 28: In a concerted effort to combat the deadly yet entirely preventable disease of rabies, World Rabies Day 2023 was observed across Arunachal Pradesh today.
At Itanagar, the day was observed at the  Dera Natung Government College, which was organised by the District Medical Office, ICR, Naharlagun in partnership with DNG College Itanagar, with the aim of imparting crucial knowledge to the youth about this 100% fatal ailment.
The occasion saw a gathering of senior medical experts who shared invaluable insights into the transmission and prevention of the rabies virus. Dr. Giri Tali, the DSO of ICR, initiated the program with a warm welcome address, setting the tone for a day filled with enlightenment.
The highlight of the event was a presentation by Dr. Nido Taylor, a Senior Doctor from the SVO Veterinary Dispensary in Itanagar, where he shed light on the rabies virus and its impact on human health. His emphasis on the life-saving potential of vaccinations resonated strongly with the audience. He also emphasised the crucial role of pet owners in safeguarding their pets through timely vaccinations.
Another senior doctor, Dr. Dominic Lokam, who serves as DLO-cum-DPO at DVBDCP, delivered a valuable presentation on the transmission of the Dengue virus and the vital preventive measures that can be taken to curb its spread.
Dr. Giri Tali, underscored the significance of preventive measures to control the spread of the rabies virus. His words served as a reminder of the shared responsibility we all have in safeguarding our communities.
Dr. M. Q. Khan, the Principal of D. N. Government College, commended the efforts of the medical team and shared invaluable insights into various viral diseases. 
BOMDILA:
Commemorating the goal of eradicating human rabies deaths by 2030, an awareness camp on Rabies and Free Vaccination of Pets was conducted today at the Buddha Park as part of World Rabies Week 2023.
This event was organized by the Department of Health, Bomdila, under the National Rabies Control Programme in collaboration with the District Animal Health & Veterinary Department, Bomdila.
In his welcome address, S Thungon, District Surveillance Officer, highlighted the importance of providing proper rabies treatment to victims and urged Medical Officers In-Charge to report dog/cat bite cases accurately.
Dr. Kuldeep, the Resource Person, conducted a presentation on the management of dog bites, modes of transmission, categories of exposure, and various steps in treating animal bites through a PowerPoint presentation.
Veterinary Officer Dr. Pema Thungon informed the gathering about the significance of pet vaccinations, the Lisa virus that causes rabies, types of vaccinations and how they work, dispelled myths about vaccinations, and discussed deworming of pets, among other topics.
N. Taipodia, DVO Bomdila, discussed the Animals Act and outlined preliminary plans to control stray dogs in the Bomdila township under the Animal & Birds Controlling Programme.
Pet owners and the public had the opportunity to interact with the resource persons, seeking clarification on rabies and other pet-related matters.
Free health checkups, vaccinations, and certificates were also provided to pets.
TEZU: Department of Animal Husbandry, Veterinary & Dairy development of Lohit District observed World Rabies Day with the theme “All for one, one health for all” at Veterinary Hospital, Tezu.  
Week-long awareness program on World Rabies day was also organized on the various places of the district by the Health Department of the District to sensitize and spread awareness on the preventive measures to be taken to prevent deadly rabies illness.
Beside observation of the Day, Free anti rabies vaccination camp for pets in and around  Tezu town was conducted at Veterinary Hospital, Tezu.
While speaking to pet owners, Dr. Naku Taloh, DVO Lohit urged them to unite in the determination to create a rabies-free world. Various first aid measures and suggestions were also advised to prevent rabies infection.
A total of 50 pets benefited from this noble effort of AHV&DD, Lohit District.
PALIN: On the occasion of World Rabies Day 2023, the Department of Animal Husbandry, Veterinary & Dairy Development, Kra Daadi District in collaboration with DHS (District Health Society) Kra Daadi District jointly conducted a general awareness program on Rabies, its prevention and control measures, along with mass anti-rabies vaccination drive of pet animals in the Palin township region.
While speaking on the occasion Dr. Tailyang Jarbo, Veterinary  Officer Palin,  gave a short briefing on Rabies Disease, its signs, symptoms & the importance of timely vaccination of pet animals for effective control of pet transmitted rabies in the region.
Also, as a resource person Dr. Gimi Tang DSO (District Surveillance Officer) Kra Daadi District gave his insights on the importance of world rabies day and the global strategic plan of eliminating human death from dog mediated rabies by 2030. Both the departments placed strong emphasis on the concept of “One Health for All” to optimize the health of people, animals and the environment in totality.
The program was chaired by Dr. P.K. Chetri, DVO (District Veterinary Officer) Kra Daadi District.
On the sidelines, about 91 pets were vaccinated on the day.  
Khonsa: Along with rest of the world - District Health society Khonsa in collaboration with the department of Animal Husbandry, Veterinary and Dairy development observed World Rabies day with the theme 'All for 1, one health for all'.
The District medical officer Tirap Dr.N.Lowang briefed the importance of World Rabies day and informed about Rabies transfer from animals to humans and how to prevent and break the chain of transmission.
DVO I/c. Tirap Dr.Wangnok Homchha enlightened on importance of Anti Rabies vaccination for all pet animals, briefed on routine vaccination and other vaccines & medicines for pet animals.
