Namsai, Oct 16: A District-Level Orientation Workshop on Universalization of PRI-CBO Convergence was organized under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Namsai, C R Khampa, to foster collaboration between Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) and Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) promoted under ArSRLM to improve governance and service delivery at the grassroots level. The workshop aimed to provide insights into ongoing efforts, showcase successful models of convergence, and discuss the rollout strategy for expanding the initiative across the district.
The DC in his keynote address, discussed the importance of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) in economic empowerment and social development and shared the key achievements of ArSRLM, including the establishment of Primary Level Federations (PLFs) and Cluster Level Federations (CLFs). He also highlighted the role of SHGs in improving women’s participation in decision-making and community governance. He then praised the collaboration with Kudumbashree-NRO to guide the convergence process and align efforts with national and state-level policies. He recommended the inclusion of SHG members in departmental committees to enhance grassroots participation and periodic review meetings to monitor the progress.
The ZPC, Nang Urmila Mancheykhun appreciated the efforts towards convergence and encouraged better coordination between PRIs and CBOs. She highlighted the importance of State Own Revenue (SOR) funds in supporting convergence activities. She also requested visits to aspirational sites to learn best practices from successful models of convergence.
The workshop concluded with key takeaways such as rollout of convergence efforts in targeted Gram Panchayats, Strengthening institutional mechanisms through regular meetings and Follow-up on exposure visits and capacity-building activities.
The workshop was attended by ZPMs, Officers from line departments, Representatives from ArSRLM, Mentors from Kudumbashree-NRO, Gram Panchayat Representatives, CBOs and SHGs.
