Naharlagun, Dec 18: The Administrative Training Institute in collaboration with the Department of Tax, Excise & Narcotics commenced a 5-day Refresher Training on GST Law and Rules. The training, aimed at enhancing the knowledge and skills of Group A and Group B officers of the Department of Tax, Excise & Narcotics is scheduled to run from December 18 to 22 next.
The inaugural session held today marked the beginning of an enriching learning experience for the participating officers. The session was attended by Secretary, Finance and Tax and Excise, YW Ringu who shared insights into the significance of such training initiatives in the ever-evolving landscape of tax and excise regulations. She underscored the importance of such training which would enable creation of pool of well trained and informed officers in the Tax and Excise department who have an important responsibility to raise revenue for the government.
Also in attendance were Lobsang Tsering, Commissioner Tax and Excise, and Thomas Basumatary, Additional Commissioner Central GST, Itanagar, emphasizing the broad representation of stakeholders committed to professional development. The collaboration between the Administrative Training Institute and the Department of Tax and Excise was highlighted by Tsering, emphasizing the shared commitment to fostering continuous professional development among the officers. Thomas Basumatary contributed to the discussions with his extensive knowledge and experience in the field.
Distinguished resource persons for the workshop include Naveen Kumar Dhandaria, a seasoned Chartered Accountant with vast experience in GST matters, and Kimi Konwar, Superintendent of State Tax, Govt. of Assam, bringing practical insights and expertise to the training sessions.
The course director for the workshop is Deputy Commissioner of Tax Excise, Tapas Dutta, who will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth delivery of the training curriculum. Pate Marik, the Director of the Administrative Training Institute, is serving as the course coordinator, overseeing the coordination of various aspects to guarantee a seamless learning experience for all participants.
The inaugural session witnessed a thoughtful discourse on the challenges and opportunities presented by the evolving GST landscape. Participants were encouraged to actively engage in the upcoming sessions, fostering a collaborative environment for knowledge exchange and skill enhancement. The Training Workshop, funded by the Department of Tax and Excise, underscores the commitment of the government towards empowering its officers with the latest knowledge and tools to navigate the complexities of GST law and rules.
