Itanagar, Aug 7: A two-day workshop on Bal-Balika Sabha and Mahila Sabha was successfully organized by the State Institute of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj (SIRD&PR), with technical collaboration from the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) and the National Institute of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, North Eastern Region (NIRDPR, NERC).
The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. Sonal Swaroop, Secretary, Panchayati Raj. Guests in attendance included Tamune Miso, Director, Panchayati Raj; Habung Lampung, Director, SIRD≺ Dr. Runi Tasung, Deputy Director, State Health Service; District Panchayat Development Officers from all districts of Arunachal Pradesh and selected Women Gram Panchayat Chairpersons from across the state.
Key discussions at the workshop focused on the importance of Bal-Balika Sabha and Mahila Sabha, which are to be convened before Gram Sabhas. The resolutions adopted in these Sabhas are to be incorporated into the decisions of the Gram Sabhas, ensuring that the priority areas identified by women and children are addressed. These initiatives provide an essential platform for women and children to voice their opinions in community decision-making processes at the grassroots level.
The programme concluded with a comprehensive discussion and the preparation of action plans by district representatives, supported by eminent resource persons. 
This workshop marks a significant step towards empowering women and children, ensuring their active participation in governance and community development at the grassroots level.
The workshop was attended by 2 women Gram Pancahyat Chairpersons from each district and DPDOs, Member Secretaries and Panchayat Technical Assistant.
