CHANGLANG, Oct 10: Frustrated with years of neglect by the government, the Khuchep Women Association has taken the initiative to repair the vital Changlang-Khuchep Road, connecting at least nine villages in the area. The government's failure to address this longstanding issue prompted this extraordinary community-driven initiative.
The Khuchep Women Association successfully repaired the road between Khuchep-I and II villages, which serves as a lifeline for the local communities. The road, originally constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) in the year 2011-12, had seen no significant renovation since then, leaving residents grappling with immense difficulties in accessing markets, conducting official business, and during any medical assistance.
Members of the Women's group have taken it upon themselves to address this critical issue, demonstrating their resilience and determination by repairing the road with their own hands.
Speaking to the media, one of the members while sending strong message to authority stated that, the Women's groups may boycott the upcoming elections if the authorities do not take immediate action to renovate the road. They argued that the state of the Changlang-Khuchep Road reflects a disregard for the welfare and well-being of the local populace.
Further, the Khuchep Women Association has appealed to the local MLA and Deputy Speaker, Tesam Pongte, as well as the Deputy Commissioner –Changlang and the Government of Arunachal Pradesh, to urgently intervene and rectify this pressing issue.
