Itanagar, Dec 4: Ane’s Home, a dedicated facility housed within the Women Police Station (WPS) in Itanagar, has launched an Orientation Module for Women and Children with the theme “End to Violation of Women and Children Rights.” The program is a joint initiative of the State Institute of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj (SIRD&PR), Arunachal Pradesh, and the Capital Police.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Kaling Tayeng, IAS, as the Chief Guest, and Apur Bitin, IPS, Inspector General of Police (Crime), as the Guest of Honour. Prominent attendees included Smti Swanal Swaroop, IAS, Secretary of Panchayati Raj & Rural Development, and Habung Lampung, Director, SIRD&PR, along with other distinguished officials and community leaders.
The event saw vibrant participation from school children, Panchayati Raj leaders, and Self-Help Group (SHG) members from the Papum Pare region. It aligns with the Supreme Court’s directives to combat societal issues such as child marriage and child abuse.
In their speeches, both the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour praised the Capital Police for establishing Ane’s Home, describing it as a model facility deserving replication in other districts of Arunachal Pradesh. They emphasized the importance of addressing pressing societal challenges and called on participants to actively collaborate with law enforcement and government bodies to ensure the safety and rights of women and children.
The two-month orientation module will focus on raising awareness about critical issues, including child marriage, child abuse, and safety for women and children. Sessions will be conducted at Ane’s Home and extended to various Panchayats and regions in the Papum Pare district to ensure widespread community participation.
