MIAO, Jan 10: In a decisive action against drug trafficking, the Anti-Drug Squad (ADS) of Miao Police Station apprehended a suspected drug peddler near the Miao Welcome at approximately 12:00 PM on Friday.
Acting on credible intelligence, the squad intercepted Sunita Subba, a 32-year-old resident of Namphai Singpho Village, who had been under surveillance for her alleged involvement in supplying drugs to the Vijaynagar area.
During the operation, the ADS team, with assistance from Lady Constables, conducted a search of the accused and her belongings in compliance with Section 50 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The search led to the discovery of 67.48 grams of suspected heroin, including container weight, concealed within a plastic power drink container and five plastic tobacco containers.
The accused was arrested on the spot following all legal formalities, and a case has been registered under the relevant sections of the NDPS Act. The investigation is ongoing to identify and dismantle the broader network involved in drug trafficking in the region.
The Changlang District Police reiterated their unwavering commitment to curbing drug abuse and safeguarding the community. Authorities have urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to aid in the fight against illegal drug trade, stated a release.
